#36 Maher Arar/Mohamed Fahmy/Flipped Advertorials
The media treated Maher Arar like shit. So why hasn't anyone apologized? Ottawa crank and iPolitics writer Andrew Mitrovica discusses this, plus John Baird's empty promises of Mohamed Fahmy's imminent release, and The Globe and Mail's groundbreaking upside down Mercedes Benz advertorials.

CORRECTIONS/CLARIFICATIONS: Jesse mentions Mohamed Fahmy’s dual citizenship. He was a dual citizen at the time of his arrest, which has been recognized as a factor “complicating” the Canadian government’s ability to help him, but he renounced his Egyptian citizenship in February of 2015.  Also, Jesse mentions Amanda Lindhout as he lists Canadians who were detained abroad and received diplomatic help. This is incorrect – Lindhout’s release through a ransom payment was privately arranged.
